How to Configure a Linksys E-series router to function with a Grandstream

Please follow these instructions to configure a Linksys E4200 router to work with the Grandstream. These instructions are only if you are connecting the Grandstream to one of the numbered ports on the Linksys router.



CustomerProvidedRoutersIcon.jpg First, turn off the power to the Grandstream. The router can stay powered on.

CustomerProvidedRoutersIcon.jpg Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the numbered ports on the router to the WAN port of the Grandstream.

CustomerProvidedRoutersIcon.jpg Next, Enable WAN port web access to the Grandstream. Please refer to Enabling WAN port web access on the Grandstream.

CustomerProvidedRoutersIcon.jpg Connect your computer to the Linksys router and log in.

CustomerProvidedRoutersIcon.jpg Open your browser and in the address bar type http://192.168.1.1 and press enter.

CustomerProvidedRoutersIcon.jpg The default username is admin.

CustomerProvidedRoutersIcon.jpg The default password is admin.

CustomerProvidedRoutersIcon.jpg Once logged in, click on Security.

  • NOTE: These are the default settings for this router. If these donn't match and you do not know the address, username, or password, please contact whoever set up your network and ask them to provide your this information. Once confirmed, please store the information in a safe place.

CustomerProvidedRoutersIcon.jpg Assign the single ports to the IP address as shown in the screen shot.

CustomerProvidedRoutersIcon.jpg Port Forward single port 4200 and port 23 using protocol TCP as shown above directed towards the IP address of 192.168.1.95.

CustomerProvidedRoutersIcon.jpgPort ranges to forward are:

  • 12060-12061
  • 5004-5012
  • The protocol is UDP
  • Direct the rules towards the IP address of 192.168.1.95.



Now, you will need to find out the current IP address being assigned to your Grandstream by your router. Please refer to How to receive the current WAN IP Address on a Grandstream.

Once you have the Grandstream's current IP address:

CustomerProvidedRoutersIcon.jpg Open another browser window and in the address bar type in the IP address that you received from the Grandstream and press enter.

CustomerProvidedRoutersIcon.jpg At the Grandstream log on page enter the password of 123.

Once on the status page:

CustomerProvidedRoutersIcon.jpg First change the Web Port to 4200.

CustomerProvidedRoutersIcon.jpg Scroll down the page a little ways until you see Statically Configured As and select the radio button for it.



CustomerProvidedRoutersIcon.jpg Set the IP address to 192.168.1.95.

CustomerProvidedRoutersIcon.jpg Set the Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0.

CustomerProvidedRoutersIcon.jpg Set the Default Router to 192.168.1.1.

CustomerProvidedRoutersIcon.jpg Set the DNS Server 1 to 4.2.2.2.

CustomerProvidedRoutersIcon.jpg Set the DNS Sever 2 to 4.2.2.1.

CustomerProvidedRoutersIcon.jpg Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on update, then click Reboot on the next page.



Note: After 3-5 minutes the Grandstream should be registered and able to make and receive calls. If you are unable to place a call after 15 minutes, please contact our support department for additional assistance. If you still need to access the Grandstream after these changes have been made, type in the address bar of your browser window http://192.168.1.95:4200. The password is still 123.
