Okay, so I goit my PhonePower yesterday and hooked it up. I followed all the instructions, and when it didn't work I went online and found a special page for those with a 2wire modem/router and went into my modem Firewall settings and made the appropriate changes. All this took about an hour or more by the time I found the tech support page and made the Firewall setting changes.
It still didn't work. So I spent another hour going over the hook up, making sure I had tried both methods of hooking it up and that I had done everything right, even restarted my computer "just in case".
Still just a busy signal when I called.
Finally I called Tech Support today to find out what I was doing wrong.
To my surprise and dismay I am told "Oh, your account is not set up yet! That's why it's not working!"
I said, "Really? Where does it say ANYWHERE that I have to wait for my account to be set up before the phone will work???!"
I can find no place where it says that I have to wait for my account to be set up. I made a payment and received an email saying that my order was confirmed. Since the instruction "manual" says nothing about waiting for an email saying my account is "set up" in order for the phone to work, I wasted about 2 hours of my precious weekend time trying to get this damned thing to work.
I am writing this with the hope that:
a) Anyone else hooking up their phone and getting a busy signal might find this and realize they need to wait not for a Confirmation of their order email, but a 2nd email stating their account is "set up", before their phone will work.
b) maybe PhonePower will do everyone a favor and explain this in an insert they put into the box so people don't waste their time thinking they've hooked it up wrong when they get a busy signal.
