   When using the softphone, I get an echo when using computer or laptop speakers. This does not happen when using headphones or a telephone handset with Zippy. I know and understand why the echo is being caused (by the feedback), but my question is this...

   Why does this type of echo only happen on the Phone Power softphone? I can talk voice on Yahoo Messenger, Windows Live Messenger, and Skype using computer or laptop speakers and there is never an echo.

   The echo cancellation check box in the softphone does not remove the echo either. 95% of the time I do use headphones, so this is not a major issue. I am curious as to why this happens exclusively on the softphone and not with other VOIP programs.

   That is a valid complaint. I am going to see if we can replicate this behavior in our lab. If we can it should be relatively easy to isolate and resolve.

   I, too, am mystified about this echo business. But, the "humorous" side of the issue is your statement that you will "see if you can replicate this in the lab." Come on! Everyone gets this echo. I'll tell you with me it is more pronounced when I call cell or other Voip phones. Not to tell you your business, but the fix seems like it would be relatively simple. I say that mostly because your the one doing the fixing.

   I'll give you a hint, the echo has nothing to do with the laptop mic and speakers. My guess is that is is something to do with the way the packets are transmitted.

   The bottomline is that until you fix it, the softphone is more or less useless for any business purpose. I mean how do you conduct a business call(or any call where you want to be professional) with that echo?

   I have not a clue what causes this. Most people must use a headset if they are not experiencing this problem. I just take my Zippy from now on and unplug the hotel phone and use it with the Zippy. I just wish PP would release an update for the Zippy so we can put the new soft phone on it.

   Other than that, I have used Skype, Yahoo, and Windows Live to chat voice. I never use a headset and I can crank the volume way up and there is never feedback or an echo. But when I use the soft phone in the same manner, I have to keep the volume down very low.
