resolvedDoes anyone have recommendations for a good IP phone for home-office use that works well with Phone Power? Since I already use the standard Grandstream ATA, I realize I will need to enable SIP credentials for this to work. Noticed the Cisco SPA 504G is in PP's supported device list, gets good reviews and isn't crazy expensive.
I presume it's as easy as plugging the SIP credentials into the phone's web interface and ensuring my firewall is allowing the usual ports back and forth?

The 504G is a new revision of the 942 both of which will provision with PP. I setup one for a friend of mine it is dirt simple. Just enter in your creds on the appropriate line and your good to go. There are some other settings you may want to tweak and adjust. If your unsure of how to setup a dial plan it might be beneficial to get it setup as BYOD. Only down side is PP will lock you out once it talks to their network.
Thanks. I was told by support that I can't do full "BYOD" if I already use a Grandstream. I'd have to do it as SIP credentials only (if I'm getting the terminology right). What exactly is the dial plan for?

I am assuming when you say full BYOD you mean keep access to admin side after it pulls the config from us. No device is full BYOD unless you enable sip credentials and set it up on your end. When we host the config we lock down the admin side. As for the dial plan, it basically allows you to setup a guideline in which your phone will recognize.
Charlie Tech: Can you just verify what I was told by support... I told them I'm interested in adding an IP phone to my service and was willing to give up admin rights on it to have PP provision it with their config. (This is a supported phone on the hardware list.) But they said I couldn't do that if I already have a Grandstream (provided by PP) provisioned already. Could you confirm that? I'm happy to have PP control (lock-down) both devices. I just want them to work properly. They said I'd have to enable SIP credentials and program the IP phone manually.

msncookie if you already have a phone that is provisioning with our network and you want to use the same number you would have to use SIP credentials. We only manage one provisioning device at a time.

In anticipation of buying a new IP phone I enabled SIP credentials early, just to make sure my Grandstream ATA would still function OK. It did not, as enabling SIP changed my account password and the Grandstream got locked-out. Support worked very hard to get my ATA synced back up, but we had to disable SIP in the process.
They said when I get the IP phone to call back and they can provision it if it's on the BYOD list. I'm extremely confused. Is it odd that I want to use the leased Grandstream for my analog phones, and buy a Cisco IP phone for my office? I don't want to buy a second line to accomplish this. If every time I enable SIP, it knocks out the device that was already provisioning because the password is reset, what am I supposed to do here?

Provided that you are going to meet the ToS, I would suggest get any of the BYOD device that PP recommends and call them to configure. I would buy equipment from a place where you can return it without any hardship; just in case!
PP also states the following about SIP creds:
"Phone Power will continue to offer normal support for all auto-provisioning devices, including Phone Power supplied phone adapters, softphones, zippyphones, BYOD devices that use Phone Power’s auto provisioning system, etc..." [while SIP credentials are enabled]
My question boils down to this: Regardless of the statement above, is it a bad idea to "mix" provisioned devices with SIP credentials being on? We're allowed ONE provisioned device, but I would like to have two devices on one line. I will even buy the second device from PP's supported list just to make things easier. I work in IT so I'm not against manually configuring, if necessary. I will do whatever PP says is best!
