I'm spending far too much time trying to debug this stupid thing. I even tried a couple other SIP clients and so far no luck. Not worth the trouble. :(

I am sure you can find a linux forums by using the google search feature. Its more then likely the place to post for linux related programs. I am sure there are people there more familiar with the linux server and have programed a linux sip client.

Maybe there should be a forum for people like Sunfish. They could post their findings to help others who are having the same kind of problems with setting up their non-supported hardware and software.

We do not use an outbound proxy. The main settings you want to configure are the following:

Auth ID:
Use Auth: Yes
SIP User ID:
SIP Password:
Proxy:

You must make sure everything enter above is entered exactly how it is displayed on the SIP credential page. This is the basic info needed to configure any device with SIP Credentials.

That's what I figured but it doesn't work. Here are the fields the app asks for under SIP Acct: User Name (my phone #), Domain (not sure, 208.64.8.6?).
Under SIP Authentication: Realm (??), Authentication name (phone # again), Password (duh).
Then under the SIP server section, it asks for Registrar (??) and then outbound proxy (again, the IP address:port#)

'Course I've filled these all out in various ways and I sometimes get a successful registration but I can't make any calls, and it usually bumps me off anyway.

The client is Twinkle and I'm using it under a fairly new version of Mint.

I think Sunfish is asking for a server name... like sip.voipcompany.com... but as far as I know, PhonePower does not have one, just the IP.

I'm trying to configure a Linux SIP client using my credentials. The client asks for a username in the form <username>@<some sip server>. Only a proxy IP is provided with my credentials. What do I use for the sip server?

thnx.
