How to Set up the Service with a DSL Internet Connection
How to Set up the Service with a DSL Internet Connection
If you have a DSL internet connection, please follow these instructions.
Many DSL modems should be set to a
Bridge
mode for the service to work. A good rule of thumb, if the modem does not have a wireless capability, then the modem should be bridged.
-
If your modem does have wireless capabilities
or
if you have a wireless
router
already set to PPPoE behind the modem
, please refer to the
Customer Provided Routers
category for more information on how to configure your modem/
router
to function with our service.
If your modem does not have wireless capability, please follow these instructions to configure the service:
First, power off the DSL modem, Grandstream and any
router
you may have there. Then, connect an ethernet cable from the modem to the
WAN
port of the Grandstream. Then connect another cable from the
LAN
port of the Grandstream to the computer or
router
that was previously connected to the modem.
Now, power on the modem first. Once the sync or ready light is a steady light, power on the Grandstream and the computer or
router
. After 5-10 minutes the Grandstream should be registered and online.
If you are unable to get either internet or phone service, please contact your
ISP
. Once you have them on the phone, check to make sure that the PPPoE credentials for the DSL account are correct. You will need to write it down for reference later. While the DSL company is on the phone, have them assist you with setting the modem to a
Bridge
mode setting. Once the modem is in a Bridge mode, refer to
Configuring the Grandstream for PPPoE type DSL internet
for information on how to set the PPPoE credentials into the Grandstream.
If you are still unable to place a call after 15 minutes, please contact our support department for additional assistance.
